Codemasters has rebooted the GRID series with FA Racing Esports owner, and ex-F1 driver Fernando Alonso as a driving consultant and In Game Character.
Fernando will play a key role in the game, set to be released on Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and PC. Players will have the chance to take FA Racing Esports team members on across multiple classes of racing. Some of these classes include GT, Touring, Stock, Muscle, Super-Modified and more – all drivable across bespoke race types such as Circuit, Street Racing, Ovals, Hot Laps, Point-to-Point and World Time Attack.
"We are also delighted to work alongside Fernando Alonso who is arguably one of the world's greatest ever drivers. His experience and knowledge has enabled us to make improvements to both the performance and handling of our cars." said Chris Smith, GRID's game director.
Our FA Racing team, which has Williams development driver Jamie Chadwick on its books, competes across multiple virtual arenas such as Dirt Rally 2.0, iRacing, Project Cars 2 and GT Sport.
GRID says that the "final showdown" event will be a face-to-face battle with Alonso in his Renault R26 that he drove to a second F1 title in 2006.
Alonso added, "Having competed across F1, Endurance and Stock Racing, GRID is the perfect game for me and I'm delighted the studio has added both myself and my racing team into the game. GRID offers so much variety and I welcome the challenge when players get to line-up against me."
The entire team is excited to be apart of such a legendary title, and looks forward to seeing you on the GRID.
GRID is available to pre-order today on Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and PC ahead of its official release date on September 13th. Also available is the GRID Ultimate Edition, which includes early access to the full game before its global debut, alongside Seasons 1-3 of post-launch downloadable content.
